Rhodes
Rhodes is the largest island of the Dodecanese. This archipelago includes about 200 islands. Some islands are very small, 27 islands in the group are permanently inhabited. Rhodes has an area of 1398 square km. This makes it the fifth largest island in Greece. The landscape of Rhodes is hilly.
The highest peak in the Ataviros Mountains reaches above 1200 meters. Rhodes has a length of 80 km, the maximum width is 35 km. The coastline consists largely of sand and pebble beaches.
East coast of Rhodes
Between Rhodes Town and the small seaside resort of Charaki, the east coast of the island is dotted with coves, each more beautiful and picturesque than the next. There are no places of interest in Faliraki. However, its proximity to Rhodes Town makes it an acceptable holiday destination for all-inclusive travelers. The individual traveler is better off staying in the places Charáki or Stegná. The beaches here are extremely varied and extensive.
West coast of Rhodes
The west coast of Rhodes is greener, quieter and less popular than the east coast of the island. There will also be some wind at times. The beaches are narrower and more often pebbly rather than sandy. The residents on the east coast also criticize the west coast because they find their beaches much better. It's a matter of taste. The beaches may be a bit narrower, but they are elongated.
Rhodes city
In the ancient city, the main attractions are: the theater, the stadium (200 meters long and 35 meters wide) and the remains of the Temple of Apollo. The main attractions in the knight city from the Middle Ages are the Grand Master's Palace, the Archaeological Museum, the city walls and the Mandraki harbor (the colossus is said to have stood at the entrance).
